Project Overview
TDM partnered with MineSpec Parts to document the sale and export of multiple heavy mining trucks from Far North Queensland to New Zealand. Captured over several days and across multiple Queensland locations, the production followed the assets through specialised road transport and onward to Brisbane for international shipment.
The project required detailed production planning around live heavy-haul movements, coordinated rendezvous points with convoy teams, interstate travel, aerial filming requirements, and approvals to operate within the Brisbane port environment. Rather than staging the operation for camera, TDM worked around the transport schedule to capture the movement as it happened.
The finished film transformed a complex logistics operation into a broader demonstration of MineSpec Parts’ global capability — connecting heavy mining asset acquisition, transport, and international supply with the company’s “Turn Your Surplus to Purpose” positioning.
About the Client
MineSpec Parts was founded in 2013 and is based in Nebo, at the gateway to Queensland’s Bowen and Galilee Basin mining regions. The company specialises in global asset marketing and disposal, logistics and maintenance management, mining and civil undercarriage, and the dismantling of heavy mining equipment in the 80–800 tonne class from manufacturers including Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, and Liebherr. MineSpec works with mining businesses across the world to convert idle assets and surplus inventory into revenue — supplying new, used, reconditioned, and inspected equipment with door-to-door shipping internationally.
Production Scope
- Multi-location production across Far North Queensland and multiple Queensland transport points
- Heavy-haul convoy documentation — coordinated rendezvous points with the transport team rather than a staged, single-location shoot
- Aerial filming to communicate the true scale of the mining haul trucks and transport combinations, with TDM managing the aviation planning and permissions required across the transport route and controlled port environment
- Filming access and approvals secured with the Brisbane port authority to capture the export stage of the operation
- Professional voice-over, editing, music, and sound design brought together into a single continuous story following the assets toward export
On Location
This wasn’t a controlled, single-location shoot. The transport operation moved on its own schedule, so TDM had to plan production around where the convoy would physically be and when it would arrive — positioning ahead of the trucks, capturing a location, then moving on to reconnect with the convoy further along the route. The result documents both the scale of the equipment itself and the logistics required to move assets of that size, closer to industrial documentary coverage than conventional corporate videography.
