Above Airlie Beach: TDM Captures Alder’s Airlie Summit

High above Airlie Beach, a new perspective on Alder’s Airlie Summit is taking shape. TDM has captured aerial drone photography of the hillside development, documenting the site and its outlook across the township, Coral Sea and Whitsunday Islands.
The assignment brings together two priorities: a clear visual record of the development and imagery that explains its position on the Mount Whitsunday hillside. Captured across morning and evening light, the photographs were delivered in high-resolution and web-optimised formats for marketing and sales use.
Airlie Summit puts the hillside in focus
Developed by Alder Developments and constructed by Alder Constructions, Airlie Summit occupies a 24-hectare site above Airlie Beach. Alder’s project information describes an approved masterplan of 89 residential and apartment lots, with the development backing onto Conway National Park.
The terrain is central to the story. Roads follow the hillside, lots sit at different elevations and the outlook changes with each vantage point. An aerial view helps connect those details, showing how the estate relates to the surrounding forest, coastline and town below.
Morning and evening light, one clear brief
TDM’s documented brief for Alder was drone photography of the site at a completion milestone. Working across morning and evening light gave the image collection different ways to show the landscape, its contours and the coastal outlook.
Some frames concentrate on roads, retaining walls and the shape of the site. Others look outward towards the bay and islands. Together, they give the client a collection that can communicate both the physical development and its wider setting.

A site update designed for ongoing use
This capture is recorded in TDM’s project brief as the first instalment of a planned periodic site-documentation series. That approach creates a starting point for future updates as the development evolves.
For a development team, repeated aerial photography can help explain change over time, support stakeholder updates and keep marketing imagery aligned with what is on site. For this assignment, TDM supplied high-resolution photographs alongside web-optimised versions, giving Alder files suited to different publishing needs.
The emphasis is on useful images: showing the site clearly while retaining the sense of place that makes this part of the Whitsundays distinctive.
Drone production above Airlie Beach
The project also called for flight planning around the local airspace environment. TDM’s production notes identify nearby aviation and tourism traffic as a key consideration for this location. Planning the capture around that environment was part of delivering the brief.
Through our drone photography and videography services, TDM works with businesses that need to communicate the scale, setting and progress of their projects. Airlie Summit is an example of how aerial photography can bring those elements into the same image collection.
