One Shoot, More Stories: How TDM Edit Selects Put Professional Footage in Your Hands

A professional shoot can deliver much more than one finished video. With edit selects, TDM gives brands a curated library of production-quality footage they can use to create their own reels, updates and campaign content long after the shoot.
It bridges a practical gap: businesses want the quality of a planned production, with the freedom to keep publishing through their own team. The footage is captured professionally; the next story can be assembled in-house.
What are edit selects?
Edit selects are a chosen collection of useful shots from a production, prepared for further editing. Instead of searching through every take, a brand receives footage selected for its content needs.
The preparation depends on the brief. TDM’s Australian Agave Project production, for example, included a curated library of colour-graded, stabilised footage ready for future content creation. Our Platinum Blasting project included clean, graded clips for ongoing in-house use.
Selects are the building blocks for an edit. A finished brand film already has its sequence, pacing and message; a selects library leaves your team room to choose a new angle, add a caption, record a voiceover or assemble a reel around a different topic.
Meeting demand for social video
Brands need content for more than a single launch. Product details, team stories, operational updates and seasonal campaigns can each call for a different edit.
Wyzowl’s 2026 video marketing survey, based on 266 respondents across marketers and consumers surveyed in late 2025, found that 69% of video marketers had created social media videos. It also reported 59% creating video in-house and 32% using a mix of in-house work and external suppliers. These are survey findings, rather than a census of businesses.
That combination helps explain the value of reusable professional footage. The research measures video production habits, rather than edit-selects adoption specifically. At TDM, we can point to the deliverable appearing across tourism, agriculture and mining projects: a practical way to connect a professional production with ongoing content needs.
Phone content and professional footage
A phone is useful for an immediate update, a spontaneous moment or a direct message from someone in your team. Modern phones can also produce excellent video when used well. The difference comes from how the footage is planned and captured as much as the device itself.
Professional production brings deliberate framing, suitable lighting, controlled movement, sound recording where required and a shot list built around the brand’s goals. Those choices are especially useful when you need consistent footage of products, facilities, people or experiences.
VMG Studios’ comparison of professional and phone video makes an instructive point: polished work filmed on a phone may still involve a professional crew and production setup. Organica’s guide also recommends matching the approach to the communication goal and combining the two where appropriate.
For a brand, edit selects can supply consistent visual material for the scenes that are difficult to capture casually. Your team can combine that library with timely phone updates, narration or new messages, while keeping the main visuals aligned with your brand.
Edit selects in TDM projects
Ozsail
For Ozsail’s Whitsundays fleet media update, TDM delivered video as raw footage and curated selects for in-house use, alongside photography and aerial coverage. The separate deliverables gave the client access to both the broader capture and a chosen set of shots for further editing.
Australian Agave Project
The farm production combined a “Follow the Journey” brand video with interviews, supporting footage, drone coverage and photography. Edited selects added a colour-graded, stabilised library for future social and marketing content. The project shows how one planned production can serve an immediate story and leave useful material for later ones.
Platinum Blasting
For Platinum Blasting, the scope paired a mining brand film with photography, drone coverage and graded selects for ongoing in-house content creation. Professional capture in the working environment supplied imagery the client could return to for future communications.
Plan the library before the shoot
The most useful selects start with a clear brief. Tell the production team who will edit the footage, what software they use and where the content will appear. A team making vertical reels may need different framing from someone building a widescreen presentation.
- Content priorities: identify the products, people, processes and locations your team expects to feature.
- File delivery: agree on resolution, aspect ratios, file formats and whether clips are supplied individually or in a compilation.
- Preparation: confirm what selection, colour grading, stabilisation and audio work the package includes.
- Usage: agree on the intended uses and permissions in the production scope.
Your team still needs to shape the final message, add suitable captions and sound, and check the finished edit. Selects make that work easier by providing a prepared visual foundation.
