Inside Fortunato: TDM Captures a Hamilton Island Luxury Showpiece

A 3am crew call, five production roles and a six-bedroom island home with views across the Whitsundays: TDM’s Fortunato shoot was built around capturing a property that deserved more than a standard walkthrough.

Hamilton Island Holiday Homes commissioned our team to produce photography, video and drone imagery of the luxury home, covering its architecture, interiors, entertaining spaces and coastal setting.

Inside Fortunato, a Hamilton Island showpiece

On the island’s northern end, Fortunato combines six ensuite bedrooms with a heated plunge pool, sauna, ice bath and multi-sport court. Its terraces look towards Whitsunday Island and Fitzalan Passage.

Those features gave the production several connected subjects. We needed to show the building and its layout, the character of the interiors, the spaces guests share and the outlook that places the home unmistakably in the Whitsundays.

The brief was to create a property showcase with a sense of the experience, while delivering the clear room and exterior coverage a holiday-home booking platform needs.

3am starts to meet the first light

The Fortunato production ran over multiple days with a five-person crew: lead photographer, project manager, lead cinematographer, colourist and chief aerial drone pilot.

Each day began with a 3am crew call so equipment and positions were ready before first light. Photography and video continued through different parts of the day, including sunrise and sunset, to match the light to each space.

In a property like this, the time of day changes the image. A room’s materials, the light through its windows and the balance between an interior and the water outside all need consideration. The capture schedule gave us time to work through those differences across the home.

Architecture, interiors and the view from above

Our photography covered all six bedrooms, living areas and exterior spaces, alongside closer details of the designer interiors. Wider frames explained the rooms; tighter images brought attention to finishes, furniture and the atmosphere of the home.

Video connected those spaces through movement and changes in perspective. Aerial capture added the surrounding coastline and the home’s position within the island landscape.

Conditions were windier than forecast, making the aerial component more demanding. Our drone pilot worked within the available operating windows, with the flights planned around the local airspace requirements.

Media for Hamilton Island Holiday Homes

The finished assets were supplied in high-resolution and web-optimised formats for Hamilton Island Holiday Homes’ booking platform and marketing channels. The project page brings together the showcase, focused films and photo gallery.

This kind of commission benefits from planning the photography, video and drone work as one production. Each format has a different role, but all need to present the property consistently and give the client material suited to its final use.
